Snowdrops! Tho since I took this picture one has been decapitated by a hungry bunny. And there's more in the front yard, too - see?
We have one little lonely tulip leaf.
And several clumps of what I think will be hyacinths. Mom thinks so too, so maybe I'm actually right.
And this one, I think, is another kind of hyacinth. Stay tuned for its big sibling in the backyard.
This pile of sticks is forsythia. There's another one in the other front corner of the yard. And there's our cute house!
And this evil-looking spiky thing is my favorite find - know what it is? See if these pictures help:
It's a quince! My favorite favorite favorite plant to find outside. Mom always makes big sculptural arrangements of quince and maybe we'll get to also. It's been sort of strangely pruned, but we'll fix that over the next few years. I am just in heaven that we have a mature, healthy quince!
And here's the scoop in the backyard:
Two more forsythia here, and just behind them, by the fence, two suspected lilacs. We'll have to watch them over the next few months and see what they do.
Tulips by the back door, already nibbled by a rabbit, probably. I predict the animals eat these before we find out what color the flowers are.
And the big hyacinths, nestled among thriving vinca. There are a whole bunch of these, much bigger than the ones in front.
And look! Daffodils, just for me! Anthony bought me 40 stems of them for inside the house, but nothing beats growing your own. I'll plant more this fall but am so delighted that we'll have some this spring. Here are more, along the side of the house.
And that's what we've got in the spring flowers department. We'll put up more pictures if anything (other than snowdrops) actually blooms.
