Day 4

We have lots to share today - big day at the house.  And since we promised to take pictures, we have a lot of them.  We did a lot of priming and painting today.  The excitement started early; Tony and Anthony disappeared into the hall bathroom (yellow fixtures, blue walls, you remember this), we heard some giggling, and when I went in the big hole over the sink looked like this:

Swanky, right?  No more holes!

After working their magic in one bathroom, the two of them decided to work on installing a fan in our bathroom (for which we have sadly still not chosen a paint color).  Here's what it looked like:

That's Tony in the bathroom with the ladder, Anthony in the attic with the light.  Both had drills in hand.  They spent a lot of time talking to each other thru the hole in the ceiling.  Now we have a bathroom fan.  This is what it looks like so far:

What were the rest of us doing?  Well, here's Will, working on his masterpiece:

Yes, we are desperate to paint that bathroom.  The color combination is giving me nightmares.  And Andrew, not to be outdone, painted the ceiling of the kitchen.  I should note that some of that ceiling is 12 feet above the floor, so it's a tricky job.

Dad worked on turning the blue (guest) bedroom white with primer, so we could make it a nicer color, and now it looks like this.  Better, right?

Then we moved all the tools and other stuff that's taken over the living and dining rooms.  Here's what they look like, and here's what the family room now looks like:

Ok, it's full of stuff, but even so the nice new colors downstairs make it lovely and bright.  Hurrah!  And the living and dining room were ready for painting, but that stupid ugly annoying chandelier that spent the beginning of the week hitting everyone in the head (we finally raised it) was in the way.  Brothers to the rescue!
Then Mom took it away...
...and I literally have not seen it since.  I have no curiosity about where it went either.

It was a nice sunny day and we took some pictures of the view from the windows.  A whole bunch of robins were playing outside.  Here's what we saw:

The hall bathroom is slowly being primed - we got it halfway done today after Will's masterful taping and draping job:

Better than yellow with blue, right?

We got the ceiling painted in the living and dining rooms - quite a project as the top is also 12 feet high - and primed most of the walls in those two rooms.

No, Will and Andrew are not twinlike at all while they paint; why do you ask?

We tested the color for the guest room; it's called burlap.  I want to rename it "Caucasian Skin Tone."  What do you think?  This color doesn't quite show all of the pinkness that it has on the wall.  We'll see if it's any better tomorrow morning.
It was a long day of painting and priming, and Will didn't wear his shoes, so...
We left the brushes to dry on the railing again, but this time they're under plastic.  They sort of remind me of Christmas stockings.
